# Compute provider comparison

This page compares **compute price** across the platforms customers evaluate against MIOSA.
Every MIOSA figure is from its live pricing API and its published price per size.
Every competitor figure is from the vendor's own pricing page, checked **2026-10-20**, with the source listed at the end.

For capabilities and measured performance, see [MIOSA vs other platforms](https://miosa.ai/docs/compare.md).
That section is the current, verified comparison, and this page does not repeat it.

## Pricing model

| Provider | Model | Entry price | Free tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| **MIOSA** | One published price per size, metered by the second; plans set what is included and a size ceiling | Free $0 · Developer $20/mo · Business $500/mo · Enterprise $2,000/mo | Free: $1 of usage every month, no card needed |
| **Freestyle** | Subscription plus hourly usage | Hobby $50/mo | Free plan; the included allowance resets every month |
| **E2B** | Subscription plus per-second usage | Pro $150/mo | Hobby: free, plus a one-time $100 credit |
| **Railway** | Subscription credited against usage | Pro $20/mo, credited | not compared here |
| **Vercel Sandbox** | Usage on top of a Pro seat | Pro $20/mo credit plus a $20 seat | not compared here |

## Compute cost, normalized

Same box everywhere: **4 vCPU / 8 GiB RAM, running, per hour**, computed from each vendor's published unit rates.
MIOSA figures come from the live pricing API (`GET /api/v1/pricing`): each size has one hourly price, and the 4 vCPU / 8 GiB size is $0.1785.

| Provider | vCPU rate | RAM rate | **4 vCPU + 8 GiB / hr** |
|---|---|---|---|
| **MIOSA** | $0.027216 / vCPU-hr | $0.0087075 / GiB-hr | **$0.1785** (compute only; disk and egress metered separately) |
| **Railway** | $0.02779 / vCPU-hr | $0.01389 / GiB-hr | **~$0.22** |
| **Freestyle** | $0.04032 / vCPU-hr | $0.0129 / GiB-hr | **~$0.26** |
| **E2B** | $0.0504 / vCPU-hr | $0.0162 / GiB-hr | **~$0.33** (+ $150/mo on Pro) |
| **Vercel Sandbox** | $0.128 / active vCPU-hr | $0.0212 / GB-hr | **~$0.68** (active CPU only) |

> **Note**
>
> These are list prices for running compute only, and they move.
> MIOSA also meters disk and network egress; several providers bill storage, egress, and higher multi-region rates on top.
> Vercel bills CPU only while it is active.
> Size the shape you care about in the calculator below.

## Cost calculator

Drag to size a box and see the estimated monthly cost per provider, computed live from the list rates above.

vCPU **4** RAM **8 GiB** Hours per month **160 h**

| Provider | Est. monthly | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| MIOSAus | $29 | One published price per size on every plan; Developer has no monthly minimum |
| Railway | $36 | Containers; volumes $0.15/GB-month; egress $0.05/GB; Pro $20/mo credited |
| Freestyle | $42 | Free tier; Hobby $50/mo; storage $0.0628/GiB-month; egress $0.02/GB |
| E2B | $53 | Hobby free plus a $100 credit; Pro $150/mo; a desktop is a standard sandbox |
| Vercel | $109 | Bills active CPU only; egress $0.15/GB; Pro $20/mo credit plus a $20 seat |

Everything scales with the box you size above, at each provider's published list rates. MIOSA bills one published price per size on every plan, so the figure is the size price while the machine runs and not a plan price; disk and egress are metered separately. Competitor numbers are each vendor's public pricing as of 2026-10-11. Verify them before you rely on them.

## Where MIOSA fits best

- **One price per size**: every MIOSA plan pays the same hourly price for a size, plus the same rates for disk and egress; plans only change caps and concurrency. Developer hard-stops at a $0 balance.
- **Sandboxes, computers, and deployments** on one API, with [white-label branding](https://miosa.ai/docs/platform/white-label.md) for your own customers.
- **Bring your own hardware or cloud**: [OpenComputers](https://miosa.ai/docs/opencomputers.md) and [Bring your own cloud](https://miosa.ai/docs/infrastructure/byoc/overview.md).
- **Capabilities and measured performance**: see [MIOSA vs other platforms](https://miosa.ai/docs/compare.md) and the [Benchmarks](https://miosa.ai/docs/benchmarks.md).
