Cookie Policy
MIOSA uses a small number of cookies and browser storage entries, all of them to make the platform work and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or tracking pixels.
1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. When you return to the site, the browser sends the cookie back so the site can recognize your browser and remember something about your session or settings.
Local storage is a similar browser feature with one important difference: values kept in local storage stay in your browser and are not sent back to us automatically with every request. We use local storage only for preferences, such as your theme and sidebar layout, which your browser reads directly.
2. Categories we use
We use two categories of cookie and browser storage.
- Strictly necessary. These are required for the platform to work and to keep your account secure. They support sign-in, keep your session valid, and protect authenticated requests. The platform cannot function without them.
- Preferences. These remember choices you make, such as whether a panel is open or which theme you selected. If you remove them, the platform still works and simply forgets the choice.
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party analytics cookies, or any cookie that tracks you across other sites.
3. Cookies we set
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
platform_session | Strictly necessary | Keeps you signed in and secures authenticated API requests (HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict). | Session |
platform_session_refresh | Strictly necessary | Refreshes your session so you are not signed out mid-use (HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict, path /api/auth/session). | 7 days |
sidebar_state | Preference | Remembers whether the app sidebar is open or collapsed. | 7 days |
The platform_session and platform_session_refresh cookies are marked
HttpOnly, which means scripts on the page cannot read them, and SameSite=Strict, which prevents
them from being sent on cross-site requests.
4. Local storage we use
| Browser local storage | Purpose |
|---|---|
miosa:theme (and theme) | Remembers whether you prefer the light or dark theme. |
docs-sidebar | Remembers the documentation sidebar width and whether it is collapsed. |
These entries are first-party, they are set by MIOSA pages, and they are never sent to us automatically. They stay in your browser until you clear them or your browser removes them.
5. What we do not use
- No advertising or remarketing cookies.
- No third-party tracking pixels or social media trackers.
- No cross-site behavioural analytics.
- No data brokers, and no sharing of cookie data with advertising networks.
6. Managing cookies
You can view, block, and delete cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Blocking or
deleting the strictly necessary cookies, including platform_session and platform_session_refresh, will prevent you from signing in and using authenticated
parts of the platform.
Clearing local storage only resets your preferences. Your theme reverts to the default and the documentation sidebar returns to its default width, with no other effect on your account or data.
7. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals by not running third-party tracking. Because we use no non-essential tracking cookies or scripts, there is nothing for these signals to switch off, and no consent banner is required for the cookies described in this policy. This statement covers our tracking behaviour only; it is not a statement about any other aspect of your privacy rights, which are described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the cookies or browser storage we use change, or when the law requires it. When we make a change, we update the date shown at the top of this document.
9. Contact
